Aydin Atilla, MD

Board-Certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics

Dr. Aydin Atilla is a dedicated physician with over 30 years of experience in internal medicine, pediatrics, and emergency care. Board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics since 1997, he has spent his career striving to provide compassionate, community-focused care to patients of all ages.

Currently serving as Medical Director for the Hospitalist and Emergency Medicine programs at Lower Keys Medical Center in Key West, FL, Dr. Atilla has been fortunate to contribute to the development of a hospitalist program tailored to the needs of this unique island community. He works closely with a committed team to support a 165-bed hospital that serves as a vital healthcare hub for the Lower Keys.

Throughout his career, Dr. Atilla has been involved in various leadership roles, including serving on the Medical Executive Committee, Chairing the Department of Internal Medicine, and leading the Quality Improvement Committee. In each of these roles, he has aimed to support initiatives that enhance patient care, safety, and outcomes—always with a collaborative spirit and a focus on learning and improvement.

Before moving to Key West, Dr. Atilla held clinical and administrative roles at several institutions, including CarolinaEast Medical Center in New Bern, NC, and Kinston Community Health Center in Kinston, NC. His background also includes work in clinical training, policy development, and quality assurance. He has helped implement HIPAA protocols and quality improvement strategies and contributed to healthcare planning for federal grants.

Dr. Atilla completed his medical education at the Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, University of Istanbul, and his residency in the Combined Medicine and Pediatrics Program at the Medical College of Virginia. In addition to his U.S. board certifications, he holds emergency medicine credentials from Turkey and has completed training in ambulatory care management and quality improvement.

Outside of work, Dr. Atilla enjoys spending time with his family, playing soccer, kite surfing, photography, and travel. These interests allow him to recharge and stay connected to the broader world. He is married to Tracy Atilla, RN, a certified midwife, and they are the proud parents of four children. Dr. Atilla is fluent in English and Turkish.
